NANOPOINT RELEASES NEW ICY BOX RANGE OF HDD ENCLOSURES AND PCI-E CARD INTO UK CHANNEL DELIVERING TEN TIMES FASTER CONNECTIVITY

Nanopoint, the UK subsidiary of leading IT peripherals producers MaxPoint and Raidsonic, has announced the launch of two new ICY BOX external HDD enclosures with USB 3.0 compatibility. Offering high-speed data transfer capabilities, ten times faster than that of USB 2.0*, the new enclosures for 2.5” and 3.5” SATA hard disks have a throughput speed of 4.8 Gbit/s and represent a major leap forward in external data storage potential.



USB has become unquestionably the preferred method of connecting external computer peripherals and devices to a personal computer. However, as new technologies prove popular that require more bandwidth such as high definition video, demand for greater transfer speeds has increased. As most computers are still only readied for USB 2.0, Nanopoint has released a PCI-E card to allow users to upgrade to USB 3.0 capability now.

Robust and portable, the 2.5” ICY BOX enclosure has unlimited HDD capacity and is ideal for those that require greater flexibility and mobility, moving data to and from the office or between computers. ICY BOX USB 3.0 3.5” enclosure (IB-318StU3-B)

With a capacity of up to 1TB, the 3.5” ICY BOX enclosure is a versatile and powerful desktop solution available with a curved aluminum stand for horizontal or vertical storage to save space. With its own wall power supply and low-noise, fan-less design, it is ideal for making use of an old hard drive as users upgrade to a newer PC, or simply for storing large files (e.g. Blu-ray discs) on an external rather than an internal HDD.



ICY BOX PCI-E Card (IB-AC604)

Accessing the full potential of USB 3.0 however does not mean having to upgrade to a new personal computer. Nanopoint has also released a PCI-E card to prepare users for the faster USB 3.0 future offering two external ports for external storage, printers, cameras or pen drives. A simple internal upgrade means that users will benefit from USB 3.0 transfer speeds whilst still being able to connect USB 2.0 & 1.1 devices as USB 3.0 is backward compatible.



ICY BOX USB 3.0 Docking Station (IB-110StU3-B)

The ICY BOX Docking Station accommodates both 2.5” and 3.5” formats for quick and easy data transferal. Users simply insert their disks into the slot and are instantly connected to the host PC without the need for fiddling with cables. The device is made from hard synthetic materials and features a circler LED power indicator, making it an attractive addition to the desktop and in keeping with its stylish design and overall quality.
