My email to Sony:
As a phone user whose love affair with Sony Ericsson ended some years ago I decided I should give the newly divorced Sony the benefit of the doubt and opted for the new Xperia S when my contract ended this week. Well, it's a glorious phone in many respects but what the heck have you done with the three virtual buttons beneath the screen? I realise the silver dots supposed to represent the reactive area are small but it seems sometimes you touch on the dot, sometimes above it on the edge of the screen and sometimes off to one side. The "back" button works most reliably above and to the right of the dot supposedly marking the spot. I feel pretty embarrassed when people as to see my cutting edge Sony handset and end up stabbing at these unresponsive buttons like I'm trying to send Morse Code. Is this a software issue? Will it be fixed? When? I have a week before I have to return this handset to the store and will gladly do so if I get no reply. Sorry Sony, the Xperia S is very good but critically flawed in a prime area of the UI. Only the loyalty of Sony fans mean the constant whining about this issue online isn't impacting your reputation the way Apple's antenna issue did them. Looking forward to your response.
